Ohio Albo Kali Silat Academy
Tuhan Holloway currently resides in the Youngstown, Ohio area. The Albo Kali Silat academy that Tuhan Holloway established in Bridgeport, West Virginia will continue to be operated by Tuhan Holloway's senior student, with Tuhan Holloway traveling to the West Virginia Academy to conduct training on as frequent a basis as possible. Tuhan Holloway established an Albo Kali Silat training group in Warren, Ohio, thanks to assistance provided by the Warren Budokan, and teaches Albo Kali Silat at Warren Budokan facilities. Tuhan Holloway is very pleased to be associated with the men and women of the Warren Budokan and is looking forward to a long and mutually beneficial association with them.
The full training in Albo Kali Silat is available to only a select cadre of students and enrollment is strictly limited. All potential Albo Kali Silat students will be interviewed by Tuhan Holloway and will be accepted as probationary students following a satisfactory conclusion of the interview, if there is currently space available at the academy for new student enrollment. Current members of the Warren Budokan will be given first priority for consideration as students. Seminars in women's self defense and law enforcement only seminars (defense against the blade, impact weapon use and defense, grappling while armed, etc.) are available, as are general blade, empty hand, and/or impact weapon seminars. The focus in seminars is not on learning a multitude of techniques, but on learning concepts that can be applied in a variety of contexts and situations. Law enforcement seminars may only be attended by currently employed or honorably retired law enforcement officers with valid law enforcement identification.
The cost of training is nominal. Fees for instruction in the Albo Kali Silat adult class are to be paid to the Warren Budokan. Tuhan Holloway teaches to promote Albo Kali Silat, to provide a service to the community by donating his time to instruct women and law enforcement officers in practical self-defense, and to sharpen and polish his own martial arts skills. For those select few who join the Ohio Albo Kali Silat Academy as full-fledged students of the art of Albo Kali Silat, the training will be intense, it will be difficult, and you will pay for your skills not with money, but in sweat and the blood of bruises and abrasions. Please note that all classes and seminars are for adults over 18 years old only, due to the effective, combative nature of Albo Kali Silat and the techniques that are taught. Exceptions to this rule are few and far between and are considered on a case-by-case basis.
The current monthly monetary cost to attend the Academy as a student of Albo Kali Silat is $55.00. Students will be required to purchase a uniform, consisting of a T-shirt and gi pants, a pair of garrotes or fighting sticks and a Spyderco Delica or Endura training (non-sharpened) knife. All of these items must be acquired prior to completion of probationary status, and will be available at discounted, nominal prices. Law enforcement and womens self-defense seminars will be periodically scheduled, depending on demand, availability of the instructor and assistants, and availability of training space. Each of the seminars will be priced individually, but every effort will be made to keep the price very reasonable.
