Low Level Techniques Against an Opponent Who is in a Low Level Posture
This video is narrated, so please ensure that the sound on your computer is turned to the on position. This video depicts several usages of low level techniques, to include disappearing below an attack and sitting down or otherwise taking some weight off of an injured leg. Various defenses against kicks and other attacks are demonstrated. One technique that is often suggested to use against a person who is in a low level posture is to bum rush/pile on, an attempt to drive the individual down and grapple. There are many ways for the defender, who is in a low posture, to defend against such techniques, and some are depicted in this video. Lastly, an opponent can end up in a low posture, either through a conscious choice to use this posture or through being taken down to the ground by the defender, while the defender is in a low posture. My opponent and student, Chris, and I spar, using purely low level techniques, to demonstrate this type of situation.
